Better Care for a Better Future

Imagine sitting in a hospital, watching a family member suffer. Due to their illness, they are forced to stay in this hospital for an extended amount of time. The environment is nothing like home and it is extremely uncomfortable. Even though time is flying, it feels like everything is moving so slow. It’s hard to believe that something so horrible could be happening to someone that is loved so much. You would do anything to see them get better, but the technology and care needed to provide a complete healing is not available at this hospital. Every little thing that is done wrong it so frustrating and you just want to scream.

Your entire world is falling apart. It is too late to move somewhere else that might be able to be more beneficial. What could have been done to provide better care? Why did it take so long to realize this hospital did not have the proper technology and medical care? What would you do to do everything over and find a better hospital? To feel completely comfortable with the possibilities that are provided and to be able to heal and rest in a stable and environment that can be very similar to their home? Many hospitals do not have the proper technology or staff to give their patients the best possible treatment that they deserve.

The time that a patient stays in the hospital can vary depending on how severe their case is. Since each and every patient is different, each patient will require a different type of care, some more extensive than others. Some patients only have to stay a day or two, while others spend months at a time in the hospital. Regardless of how long a patient is going to be in the hospital, each and every patient should have the best possible care available to them along with the feeling of being right at home. While some hospitals go above and beyond with their health care, others barely meet the needs of their patients.

All hospitals should have to meet certain guidelines when it comes to the technology they have and the care they are providing for their patients. Patients that have to stay in the hospital for an extended period of time should have a comfortable environment, have a nurse who truly cares for their best interests, and should also be able to feel right at home. There are several hospitals in the United States that excel in health care and go above and beyond to get the highest patient satisfaction ratings. For instance, there is a hospital that is located in Montana that is called The Advanced Care Hospital of Montana.

They are well known for providing long term service to patients with serious illnesses or injuries (Ernest Health 2011). At The Advanced Care Hospital of Montana, there are over 40 individual rooms that provide patients with a place that they can spend an extended amount of time in. These rooms are built to provide an environment that is similar to their home environment. Another aspect they are well known for is the medical professionals that are specially trained to make sure that the patients heal as much as they can, but also in a timely manner.

Unfortunately, not every patient who passes through a hospital is able to survive. Sometimes, their illness or injury is just too far advanced to provide a treatment that can heal them forever. This does not mean, however, that the staff at the Advanced Care Hospital does not try their best to make the patients as comfortable as possible during their stay. The staff does whatever they can in order to provide the best chances of recovering, and if they can’t, they make the patients comfortable and pain free until it is time for the patients to finally pass on.

In order to feel 100% better, the patients not only need a physical healing, but an emotional healing as well. This requires an entire new level of care to the patients. This staff has to meet the challenge of connecting with the patients in the hospital on a completely new level. The staff must connect with the patients emotionally to help them regain not only their strength, but their independence as well (Ernest Health 2011). Not every hospital has the staff that can take the time to connect with their patients on a personal level to make sure that they can also heal emotionally.

One of the main reasons The Advanced Care Hospital of Montana has such a high patient satisfaction is because of the fact that they push themselves to achieve the highest level of emotional connectivity with their patients to ensure that their physical and emotional healing reaches its’ highest potential. The Advanced Care Hospital of Montana is only one of many hospitals that strive to prove to the patients that their personal needs are extremely important. Technology is advancing at an incredible rate and is far more advanced than it was even 10 years ago.

As technology continues to advance, it is also important that the level of care in hospitals also advances. There are several hospitals in Virginia that form a group called the Virginia Health Information. This group realizes that health care is indeed changing and these changes are broken down into several different categories (Virginia Health Information 2013). These hospitals in Virginia discuss that medical advances and the technology in hospitals are much more advanced now than they were before.

Insurance companies such as Medicare and Medicaid work with hospitals that have millions of dollars’ worth of medical equipment in order to pay them back for the cost of that equipment (Virginia Health Information 2013). Many hospitals in Virginia share the same beliefs as The Advanced Hospital Care of Montana. They revolve around the idea that it is extremely important to show patients that the staff members in these hospitals are genuinely concerned about the well-being and ultimate healing of their patients.

By the time they leave, the patients are well aware that their personal needs were just as important as their physical healing. The continuation of medical advances will provide the opportunity to reach out to more people. Since these advancements will in turn create a larger patient base, it is necessary to have information available to new and existing patients to show what care might be available to them (Virginia Health Information 2013). This information would make the patients feel at ease because they will already be aware of the medical possibilities that have become available to them.

Hospitals in Virginia, along with The Advanced Hospital Care of Montana are just a miniscule example of the changes that will occur all over the United States when it comes to the extensive care available in all hospitals. While these hospitals strive to meet the needs of their patients and provide the best health care possible, some people actually believe that too much healthcare can cause more harm to the patients than good. A variety of research has been done to counteract the idea that the advances in medical care and technology are beneficial to the patients staying long term in the hospital.

Many doctors have researched the idea that the new advancements in health care and technology are too aggressive. Extensive studies have also been done to back up these ideas. The research states that many doctors believe that these advances are actually making people sicker than they would have been without all of the extensive care that is provided to them (Consumer Reports 2008). Research shows that people who stay long term in hospitals and get many procedures done actually don’t live as long or enjoy their life as much as people who stay out of hospitals completely.

The research also shows that patients that are treated aggressively with medical care are known to have an increased risk of infection or medical errors (Consumer Reports 2008). While this research may back up the idea that advanced and extensive medical care can actually hurt a patient more than not treating them at all, the possibilities that advanced medical care can provide seem to outweigh all of the negative aspects. Imagine the same hospital, but this time, the technology and equipment are significantly more advanced. The person lying on the hospital bed actually has a chance of total emotional and physical healing.

The environmental is even more comfy and the staff is all around loving and caring. Doesn’t that sound a lot better than before? So many people have witness loved ones suffering and have felt helpless because there is nothing they can do to help. The sad thing is that is it not their fault that they can’t help. Most times, a majority of the problem is that the hospital does not have the medical equipment needed to give the patients the help that they really need. Although medical advances in healthcare and technology are being made, there are still so many hospitals that are behind with their medical equipment.

As time passes, more and more hospitals should have all new equipment and technology that they need and be able to provide patients with the physical and emotional healing care that they really need.
